Art Lesson & Storytelling
Eden Nature Park and Resort recently partnered with the Kauswagan Foundation, Incorporated in hosting the Art Lesson and Storytelling for the Children of Barangay Eden in Toril. The month-long event (storytelling for three straight Saturdays, and art workshops on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) was organized by Eden Nature Park to encourage children to make use of art and storytelling as means to express their thoughts, convey their feelings and articulate their imagination as well as a way for the kids to spend their summer break productively and creatively, and away from the temptation of nasty vices.
The workshop was facilitated by no less than “Paetenyo” artist, Lamberto “Obet” Acyatan, who eagerly imparted his talents in painting and epoxy-making to the young participants. The workshop benefited more than two hundred children, most of which were kids of the resort’s staff and personnel residing within the area.
More than just a commercial establishment, Eden Nature Park considers itself a community composed mostly of locals working together to achieve a common goal: to be keepers of nature’s gifts so that visitors who will go see the resort will learn not just to take care of the environment but will also learn how to nurture it so that the next generation will still be able to enjoy it.
By inviting the children of their staff and personnel, it was also their way of expressing their gratitude to the community, especially to the kids who are the future guardians of the environment.
With these activities, children will hopefully appreciate the value of books and get them to appreciate reading more so that they may be able to open their minds, widen their horizons and explore the world beyond the visual. It will not only make them more learned and artistic but also inspired individuals.
